Francis Effect: That’s why Sodomites should march in St. Patrick’s Day Parade

This quote was found at Creative Minority Report:

O’Reilly told CNA said the parade policy was changed due to Catholic teaching “about showing compassion and understanding to groups that don’t agree with all the Church’s teachings.”

“I think, in part, the tone is changing within the Church, and I think Pope Francis has spoken about this, and Cardinal Dolan did last night,” O’Reilly said. “There is a sense among many Catholic leaders [for] showing that compassion and that brotherly love, regardless of whether or not one agrees with Church teachings. It may be the best foot forward for the Church at this point. We hope people will see it in that light.”

Cardinal Hummes practices the Francis Effect: Who am I to Judge?

Excerpts from Life Site News

During the interview with ZH News, which centered on Pope Francis, Cardinal Hummes was asked three times about homosexuality.

Asked if a homosexual couple at a parish could receive the sacraments or become godfathers, Cardinal Hummes replied, “The pope has said something very important ‘If a homosexual seeks God, who am I to judge him?’ People must be respected.”

Francis Effect: The war on conservative Catholics in New York

Excerpts from Fox News

When Cardinal Bergoglio was elected pope in 2013, many traditional Catholics were wary. Recently, their pessimism is being justified as “The Francis Effect” makes itself felt across the world and in America, most notably in the Archdiocese of New York.

… Yet Pope Francis is having none of it [Extraordinary Form of the Mass – the Tridentine Mass]. In his Archdiocese in Buenos Aires, the traditional rite was non-existent, and he was described by an Argentinian journalist as “a sworn enemy of the Traditional Mass.” Since he ascended to the papacy this has been shown to be true in a global sense. [and supported by Cardinal Dolan]

Francis Effect: “He has slowly moved the Church from being a dogmatic, self engrossed and authoritative sick institution”

From the Permanent Council of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippine (CBCP) website we read this gem:

He has slowly moved the Church from being a dogmatic, self engrossed and authoritative sick institution to being a gentle, outreaching, compassionate and persuasive Church through the power of love and mercy,” Villegas added.

This prelate speaks like a true modernist, who doesn’t like unchanging dogma. It is difficult to approve of modern sins by sticking to dogma, so the relativism of modernism can be used to “update” the Church in line with the modern apostate world. And this from the president of the CBCP.

Francis Effect: “Who am I to Judge” as practiced by Franciscans in Boston

boston_franciscans_gay

From Catholic Action League, via Mass Resistance:

The Franciscan Friars of Boston’s Saint Anthony’s Shrine—members of the same religious family as our Capuchin Cardinal Sean O’Malley—manned a so-called information booth at the city’s homosexual Pride Festival on City Hall Plaza on Saturday, June 14th. The booth featured banners, buttons and t-shirts emblazoned with the words: “Who am I to judge?” There was nothing evident which suggested traditional Catholic teaching about the mortally sinful, soul endangering character of homosexual relations, which The Catechism of the Catholic Church, promulgated by Pope Saint John Paul II in 1984, described as “grave depravity.”

When contacted by concerned Catholics, Franciscans assured callers that they had “the full support of the archdiocese.” The Archdiocese of Boston however, issued no public statement on this scandal. The closest thing to an official response was an e-mail sent by the Archdiocesan Cabinet Secretary for Parish Life and Leadership, the Very Rev. Kevin M. Sepe, who told one outraged Catholic:

St. Anthony Shrine, although within the Archdiocese of Boston, is a parish of the Franciscan Order and so I encourage you to contact them directly with your questions and concerns. The Archdiocese has no knowledge of the intent of this initiative and is not associated with it. Thank you for your correspondence.

Catholic Action League Executive Director C. J. Doyle made the following comment: “Religious orders operate churches in the archdiocese with the permission of the archbishop. A telephone call from the cardinal could have put a halt to this scandal in five minutes.”

“The archdiocese was silent about the aggression of homosexual militants against the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. It was silent about the anti-Catholic hate group, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, leading the homosexual Pride Parade. It is now dodging responsibility for Franciscan participation in the Pride Festival.”

“The ‘Welcoming Mass’ and ‘Rainbow Ministry’ at Saint Cecilia’s in the Back Bay obviously enjoy the tacit endorsement of the archdiocese, as does the LGBT group at Saint Anthony’s. When pro-life scholar and attorney Dan Avila—who spent years serving the church—suggested a link between homosexuality and the demonic, the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Boston, The Pilot, became a forum for pastors, priests, and deacons of the archdiocese to savage Avila in the letters to the editor column.”

“When the Pastor of Saint Paul’s Parish in Hingham declined to enroll the child of a lesbian couple in his parochial school, the Director of the Catholic Schools Foundation—whose Chairman is the Cardinal—threatened to withhold funding; the leading member of the Archdiocesan Council of Finance ridiculed the pastor’s decision to the secular media; the Archdiocesan Superintendent of Schools hastened to find another school for the couple; and the Archdiocesan Communications Director refused to publicly defend the priest, who was being viciously maligned in the media.”

“When the courageous pro-family organization, Mass Resistance, mounted a referendum campaign to restore the 1913 law limiting Bay State acceptance of certain out of state marriages (a statute which gained new relevance with some states recognizing same sex unions as marriages), the Cardinal, after some coaxing in the middle of a pro-life event, signed the referendum petition, albeit with the wrong address. His aides then attempted to retrieve the petition sheet. When Mass Resistance publicized the Cardinal’s signature—which was, after all, on a public document—they were told to stop using the Cardinal’s name, and forbidden to collect anymore signatures in front of Catholic churches.”

“Betrayals of Catholic principles never permitted under Cardinal Law are now becoming routine under Cardinal O’Malley. It should be apparent to any informed Catholic that this archdiocese, under its current leadership, will offer no meaningful opposition to the homosexual agenda, either in civil society, or even in the church itself.”

Cardinal Kasper’s Resulting Francis Effect

Excerpts of collected observations on Cardinal Kasper’s proposal for Holy Communion for those living in sin as reported on Countercultural Father. Those living in sin just love it. As St. Paul says “For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears:” (2 Timothy 4:3).

(Person 1) … However, Cardinal Kasper seems to be opening the door to a more welcoming approach from the Institutional Church.  … So it is good that the Cardinal has seen the practicalities of the situation [invalid divorce and remarriage], and recognises that the best solution is to recognise that, whilst extortion, corruption and murder may, technically, be against the rules of the Church, in fact I am doing the best that can be expected of me in the situation in which I find myself

(Person 2) … When I trained as a doctor, it was not with the intention of becoming a specialist in late-term abortions. … However, that is now the only way I have to make a living, so it is clearly absurd to expect me to give it up.  It is wonderful to learn that Cardinal Kasper is finding ways to bring mercy into this situation, and allow me back into full communion with the Church.

Another Look at the Francis Effect

Some excerpts from Lucas Cambrensis on the Francis Effect.

… main concerns can be summarised as follows:
1) Mixed Messages
…for every story which appears to show Francis robustly defending church teaching, there is another which casts doubt upon it. …
2) Careless Talk
…”Who am I to judge?” is fast becoming the banner of dissent…
3) Papal Amnesia
…Francis actions are being viewed as a criticism of his “lofty” predecessors and a rejection of church customs which are meant as signs and symbols to the faithful. If Pope Francis appears to undermine the traditions of the papacy, he runs the risk of attempting to be head of the Church via the cult of personality rather than received office. …
4) With friends like these
…the “Pope’s theologian”, Cardinal Kasper, is at odds with the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Likewise, Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri, the President of the Synod of Bishops who is charged with arranging the Extraordinary Synod on the Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization has supported Cardinal Kasper’s stance on liberalising Church teaching on remarriage and communion. …

In Italy, gay Catholics feel the ‘Francis Effect’

Reception of Holy Communion at Sodomy Friendly Church

FLORENCE, Italy — The power of the Catholic Church in Italy has compelled thousands of gay men and lesbians to live in the shadows, and the opposition of bishops helped make this the only major nation in Western Europe without broad legal rights for same-sex couples. But gay Catholics here now speak of a new ray of light from what they call “l’effetto Francesco.”

The Francis Effect.

The Francis Effect fails to reverse Catholic decline in Latin America

The Francis effect fails to reverse Catholic decline in Latin America

A new survey shows that despite the ascension of the charismatic Argentine Pope Francis to the Holy See, Catholicism in Latin America is still on the decline.

Chile-based pollster Latinobarometro released data on Wednesday showing that only 67 per cent of Latin Americans identified as Catholics in 2013, compared to 80 per cent in 1995.

How To Respond If Pope Francis Is the False Prophet

Excerpts from Dr. Kelly Bowring at Two Hearts Press

[Note: This man is one of the few who at least is considering the truth based on the evidence and prophecies.]

As a Catholic theologian, I say this with great trepidation, and I ask the reader to hear me out before drawing your own conclusion. It is apparent to faithful Catholics today, and more and more so as the past year progressed, that some of Pope Francis’ actions and teachings have raised legitimate and serious concerns. This article asks you to look at the disconcerting actions and statements of Pope Francis and the “Francis effect” in the light of the potentially related prophecies about him. Of course, time will make things clearer as to his plans and agenda, as he moves beyond his now famous rhetoric toward implementation. So for now, I withhold any conclusions, instead giving Pope Francis the benefit of the doubt, always remaining obedient to the Church as a faithful Catholic theologian. But, alert and investigative I shall remain, and I think that if he is a valid Pope, and the prophecies are wrong and his disturbing rhetoric is just for effect, he will be glad for my vigilance on behalf of the Church.

Nevertheless, it is incumbent upon me to present to you the reader some of the reasons that have led me to this current supposition. First, I will present the credible heavenly prophecies about the False Prophet, then what to expect from the False Prophet according to the prophecies, and finally how Catholics should respond to the possibility and growing concern that Pope Francis might be the False Prophet.
